How to Register for the Website
Registering for the website is a single activity which concludes with you becoming a website "user", subscribing to the SLSC's newsletters, creating a Member profile which provides information helpful to you and the other Club Members. Registering also creates or renews your Seven Lakes Sailing Club Membership, along with providing the way for you to send your annual dues and the liability waiver.
The "Login Form" for registered users is located on every page. Click on "Login" in the top menu and the login form will display in a pop up window. A "Log Out" link appears in the top menu after you log in or a "Log Out" button is available in the right column on every page where the "Auman Weather" module is found.
Individuals registering for the first time can click on "Register" in the top menu or by clicking on "Login" in the top menu and then clicking the "Register Now!" link at the top of the pop up login window. Both links will take you to the "Registration and Membershp" page. Simply fill out the registration form and submit it. The site will take you through the rest of the process.
The step-by-step instructions for creating a new account are:

Important Note: The Members List and Member profiles are not available to the public. They are only available to SLSC Members.
- Click on "Register Now!" in the pop up login form or click on "Join SLSC" in the top menu.
(Both open a new window: "Registration and Membership". There is also brief outline, "Helpful Registration Information" on the registration page about the form. This is the more detailed version of that instruction. For the most part the form is self explanatory, but our encouragement is that you fill in everything relevant to your interests.)
(Caution: Be sure to review the form for complete information. Submitting an incomplete form will cause some of the form data to be reset.)- "SLSC Registration"
(This section includes your primary registration information and subscribes you to the Club's newsletter(s) that interest you. All of the fields are mandatory. You are automatically subscribed to the "SLSC's Member Newsletter" which offers general announcements about events and other Club interests. The other newsletters, "Race Skippers", "Small Boat Owners" and "Power Boat Owners", provide specific information about events of interest to those groups. You are welcome to subscribe to any or all. You may unsubscribe from one or more via any newsletter sent to you or by editing your Profile after you've registered.)- "First and Last Name *:": Enter your first and last name separated by a space.
(Note: Please include a last name. It helps folk know who the registrant is without having to open their record to find out.) - "Username *:": Any username is acceptable but shouldn't be too simple. Spaces are allowed.
- "Password *:"; The site requires that the password be at least 7 characters long, include at least one lower case letter (a, b, c...), one capital letter (...X, Y, Z), one number (1, 2, 3, ...) and one symbol (! @ # $ * ] [ <). Of course, passwords can be longer, which we encourage.
(Note: We suggest that you create your password in a text editor like "Notepad" or "Notepad++ " - a free application and then save it somewhere on your computer. If you include your user name and the email you used to create your account, they will always be available to you. Additionally, you can copy the password and the email address and paste them into their respective fields rather than typing them again - and possibly getting them wrong.) - "Confirm Password *:": See note above.
- "Email Address *:": Enter your email address. Be careful to make sure the @ sign is used and the period precedes the "com" or "net" or "biz" or "us" or whatever follows the period. It's amazing how many folks will type a comma rather than a period. Hence the next step and the suggestion about using Notepad to create/save your credentials.
(Note: Do not use editors like Word or Pages because they add hidden content which will paste into the username and password fields.) - "Confirm email Address *:": Enter the email address again. This is a simple test to check the accuracy of the original email entry.
- "Subscription": Check any of the newsletters that interest you. The "SLSC's Member Newsletter" is automatically checked. You can uncheck it if you don't wish to receive any newsletter.
- "First and Last Name *:": Enter your first and last name separated by a space.
- "Membership Details"
(This section provides the details which will help Club design events for it members, serve the various Member needs and to a way for members to connect. Only 6 items are required in this section, but we encourage you to complete all of them.)- "Seven Lakes Address:*:": Enter either your street address or lot number, typically your lot number.

- Review the information entered.
(Caution: Pressing the "Enter" key before you are finished will throw an error message showing all of the missing information - except the requirement approving the Terms of Use. Completing and submitting the form without approving the Terms of Use will cause the registration to fail and the form will need to be filled out again.) - Click "Register" after completing the review. If no required fields are blank, the "Registration and Waiver" page will open. Otherwise, the registration form will "re-appear" and the unfilled required fields will be highlighted in red.
- "SLSC Registration"
- The "Registration and Waiver" page is a welcome page which outlines what happens next and includes a printable waiver that must be printed, completed, signed and mailed along with your annual dues to Nancy Workman. Her address is on the "Registration and Waiver" page.
- Simultaneously, a verification email will be sent to you to verify that the email you used to register is valid. Once received, click the "verification" link or copy and paste it into your browser. This will return you to the SLSC website's "Completed Registration" page. When your dues have been received, your account will be enabled. You will receive an email notification confirming your account has been enabled.
(Note: Clicking the verification email link or pasting the link into your browser address bar is required, however, it only needs to be done once. If you click the link again, you will be returned to the website where a "Message" and a "Warning" will be displayed. The first says that"... your email address has been verified and once approved, you will be notified when your account has been approved. You will be able to log into the site at that point." The other says the "Registration failed: Verification code not found." That is because your email address has already been verified. The verification code has a one time use.)
